FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your open-play hours?

Our hours may change seasonally, so be sure to visit our home page or Facebook page for the most up-to-date open-play hours. If we are not open for open-play, check our events calendar, we may have something else happening! Be sure to register for events in advance.

Can I pay for classes or events at the door?

Classes and events can fill-up fast. Most of our events require registration online unless otherwise noted. We encourage you to register as early as possible to reserve your spot. We cannot guarantee space if you do not pre-register. Please see our events page for more details and registration information. This helps us plan ahead and make sure our events do not get too crowded!

How much do I have to pay to play?

We charge $8 plus tax per child aged (4 and under). Children under 1 are free WITH a paid sibling. We charge $12 plus tax for older children ages 5 to 12. Adults are always free during open-play hours! Each play pass includes 3 hours of play for the day. We have plenty of toys and activities for every child to enjoy! Check out our photo gallery of our play areas for a sneak peek! We charge $5 plus tax for adults and $3 plus tax for children to play our large selection of games.

What if we just want to play games?

We charge $5 per adult for game rental and $3 per child. Please note that if your child is playing in the playrooms or playground, game play is included at no additional cost. If your family just wants to enjoy the games then each guest pays to play.

I have multiple children, do I have to pay the same rate for all of them?

We love a good deal and that's why we are happy to offer discounted rates for families if you purchase a package. Our passes cover up to 3 children- if you have more, please call for special pricing. Remember, adults are always welcome to relax in our café for FREE!

At what age do you start charging children to play?

Our play café is suitable for children as young as 6 months. Our rule is if your child is playing, we ask you to pay for them to do so. Children under 1 are free with a paid sibling- otherwise we begin charging at 6 months.  If your infant will be using any of our play area which impacts our guest play capacity, we'll ask you to purchase a play pass for them. If they are tagging along while their siblings play and the infant won't be playing, they can hang with their caregiver for free in the café. We also welcome and encourage baby-wearing here!

Do you have membership plans?

Absolutely. We offer a variety of membership plans for both our tots playground admission, our big kids playground admission and our game play admission. Please see our pricing and membership page for details.

What is your play area like?

Check out the gallery tab for photos and videos of our play area!

Will kids or parents have to take off their shoes?

Our no shoes policy is for your child's safety. Crawling babies and toddling toddlers need to roam free without risk of picking up the germs and trash our shoes and strollers carry in from the outside. Feel free to keep your shoes on in the café and lounge areas.  We have a convenient coat rack and cubbies for shoes outside our play area. Our play area is strictly SOCKS ONLY. No shoes, no bare feet! If you forget your socks, don't worry!  We have socks available for purchase and keep for adults and children for only $2 per pair. We allow car seats and baby carriers in the play area but do NOT permit strollers. Feel free to leave strollers in the vestibule or by the coat racks and cubbies. If you are unable to remove shoes for medical reasons our front desk staff will be happy to provide you with shoe covers.

Does your facility enforce a play-area capacity?

Yes! We want to make sure our guest can comfortably enjoy our play areas. Our play-area capacity is 25 children. If we are at our max, we encourage families to relax in the café -area until another family leaves. Feel free to ask for coloring books or other activities to use while you wait!

Is Time to Play Cafe accessible to wheelchairs and strollers?

Yes absolutely! Our goal is to be the premier inclusive indoor playground for children and adults of all abilities in the city of Houston. The entrance from outside is wheelchair & stroller accessible as well as all interior doors. We request that strollers be left locked in your vehicle when possible or in the designated stroller area, since parking is available very close to the facility.

Is there special clothing required at Time to Play Cafe?

No, however, we encourage comfortable play wear for the kids. Please note that socks are required in ALL PLAY AREAS for children and adults, including the indoor climbing structure and the infant and toddler area. If you don’t have socks, new socks are available for $2 at our check-in desk.

I have a child that's older than 12.  Can they come too?

We want Time to Play Café to be a place the whole family can enjoy. While your child may be outside of our play area age range they can still enjoy a variety of games and other activities. While not permitted to use any of our play equipment themselves (no exceptions) they can help a younger friend or sibling play. If they use or abuse the play equipment, however, we will ask them to exit the play area and instead sit in the lounge.

What if I want to use the play area with my child?

Parents are welcome to play with their child as much as they like. Please remember our SOCKS-ONLY rule for adults and children in all of our play areas. We even have seating right inside of our tots play area for parents who prefer they stay close. If your child is more independent, enjoy our comfy parents lounge where you'll still enjoy full view of our tots play area!

Can we bring in our own snacks or food?

We only allow outside food for birthday parties.  Outside food and catering is welcome, however there is a $30 clean up fee that will be added to the total of your event. We offer a variety of healthy and not so healthy snacks, finger foods and desserts for purchase (until they're gone!). We know our selection won't work for everyone. We do ask however that all beverages (other than bottles and such, of course!) consumed at our facility be purchased in our café. We will have complimentary water, and warm water for safely warming bottles. Just ask! While we are not a nut-free facility, we ask that you DO NOT bring in any food with nuts or traces of nuts for the safety of our other guests, and please wash hands before playing. You may NOT bring in a birthday cake or cupcakes during open-play hours unless you are prepared to share with all other guests!

Can we bring food in to the play area?

We DO NOT allow parents or children to enter our play areas with food as it poses risks for everyone and can cause guest to slip when food or drinks get spilled in the play areas.

Is the play pass good for the day?

We want to give all our guest a chance to enjoy the facility. Your play-pass is good for 3 hours of play, during open play hours. We understand that things happen and you may have to cut play short, if this happens please see a member of management for a possible return visit pass.
